SCYA Spring 2026 Fastpitch Softball

 SCYA will inter-league play with Northern Calvert Little League (NCLL) District 7. 

Practice will begin mid-March for the spring season, typically two nights per week with fields to be determined locally. 

Games: Weather permitting, regular season games will begin early April through mid-June. Games will be played on Saturdays with an occasional weeknight evening game, excluding Easter and Memorial Day weekends. The occasional weeknight games for Ponytail and Seniors will be scheduled on Thursdays and Minors and Majors will be scheduled on Mondays. The second week of June, the end of season exhibition game for Ponytail and the end of season NCLL tournament will be held the second week of June for Minors, Majors and Seniors. The goal is to have most of the games held in northern Calvert County. 

Uniforms: We will use the same jerseys from the 2025 season. If you are moving up an age group, you will need to order a new uniform. We will finalize the uniform order once the teams are formed. We can add any necessary additional orders. You will also need black pants and gold socks. Gold belts are optional. 

Equipment: Players should have their own fielder’s glove. Cleats are encouraged. There are league bats and helmets available for use, but most players purchase their own once they have determined their preferences and needs. Batting gloves are optional, and fielding masks are highly encouraged.

Ponytail Softball (League age 5-7) Open to participants league age 5-7, birth years 2018-2020. $95 plus uniform fee 

No prior experience is required.  Each team will have a maximum of 14 players.  This is coach pitch using a 50-foot diamond and 30-foot pitching distance, without an umpire calling the game. Players will learn the fundamentals of softball at a competitive level.

Minor Softball (League age 8-10) Open participants league age 8-10, birth years 2015-2017.   $95 plus uniform fee

No prior experience is required.  Each team will have a maximum of 14 players.  This is kid pitch using a 60-foot diamond and a 35-foot pitching distance, with an umpire calling the game.  Players will learn the fundamentals of softball at a competitive level.

Major Softball (League age 11-12) Open to participants league age 11-12, birth years 2013-2014.  $95 plus uniform fee 

No prior experience is required.  Each team will have a maximum of 14 players.  This is kid pitch using a 60-foot diamond and a 40-foot pitching distance, with an umpire calling the game.  Players will learn the fundamentals of softball at a competitive level.

Senior Softball (League age 13-16) Open to participants league age 13-16, birth years 2009-2012.  $95 plus uniform fee 

No prior experience is required.  Each team will have a maximum of 14 players.  This is kid pitch using a 60-foot diamond and a 43-foot pitching distance, with an umpire calling the game.  Players will learn the fundamentals of softball at a competitive level.

Coach Volunteers are Needed! If you are interested in volunteering to coach, please indicate your desired role when registering your player. 

Anne Arundel County requires that any individual involved with children complete a background check to ensure their safety.  Because of this policy, anyone who wants to help during practice and games must comply.  This must be completed by all coaches and assistant coaches.
