Welcome to SCYA Girls County Basketball!
Our goal is to develop, teach, and offer youth players the opportunity to learn fundamental skills of basketball while instilling values such as teamwork, respect and good sportsmanship. As a program, we want to provide as many young athletes the opportunity to develop basketball skills while instilling a love for the game.
All girls are welcome to play for SCYA. We love the game of basketball, so we welcome all different levels of experience. We typically have two to three teams per age group, so each team will be divided by skill levels to participate. There are 3 different levels of play, which include A, B and C. These levels allow for all children to be able to play at their skill level while still having fun when competing.
Pre-Season Workouts
We will hold 2-4 pre-season workouts to evaluate levels of play and place girls on appropriate teams. All players registered and paid in full, for the Winter season, are eligible to participate in the workouts. There is no additional charge for the workout. I will send out information on dates and location two weeks prior to workouts.
Registration
Our county level registration is for girls ages 8-13. If we have enough interest in a high school team, I will open the registration up for 9th-12th. Please email me if interested.
Registration is $125 plus $30 for game shorts. You must buy shorts or use a pair bought the previous year.
A $20 late fee will be assessed to all registration not paid by the first practice date. All players must be paid in full before attending any workouts or team practices.
Practices are two times per week and are typically held at Lothian or Tracey’s Elementary. I will take practice day/coach requests but cannot promise they will be granted.
Due to space limitations in the gyms, we ask that you drop your daughter off at practice. If you do not feel comfortable, one parent may stay. Siblings will not be allowed in the gym during practices.
Games are typically on Saturdays and run from the first weekend in December through the end of February. The county makes the schedule and picks the game locations.
The waitlist starts at 20 girls for each age group. If we have enough coaches, we can create another team for that age group.
Please direct questions to Molly Owens or Jess Mudd.
